About
Demetria D. Neal is a PhD candidate in the Graduate Program in Neuroscience (GPN). Her research serves to understand how early-life adversity affects the developmental and maturation of the brain, specifically the thalamo-prefrontal pathway. Her interest in neuroscience stems from her brother who was diagnosed with a developmental disorder. Demetria received her B.S in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 2020, while doing research at Rush University Medical Center on the synaptopathology of age-related dementias. In her free time, Demetria enjoys rock climbing or anything related to fitness.
