About

Stacey A. Cabrera is a PhD student in the Community and Applied Developmental Program (C&ADP) area in the Psychology Department at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC), and is a member of the CAMBIAR Collective advised by Dr. Josefina Bañales. Her current research interests center on highlighting youths' critical consciousness development, intersectional identities, and peer socialization efforts in the context of navigating academic institutions and the educational inequities within them. A second line of her research explores how youth of color, particularly Latinx youth, develop self-love as an act of resistance to oppressive structures.

Before UIC, Stacey earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Maryland-College Park.
