About

Alyssa Hardy is a Ph.D. student in the Pharmacognosy concentration of the Pharmaceutical Sciences program at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Her current research, conducted under the guidance of Dr. Brian T. Murphy, is focused on the isolation and identification of Phytoprogestins from commonly consumed botanical supplements. The aim of this project is to elucidate the structure and function of these hormone signaling molecules, which are present in many of the herbal supplements that are widely consumed by women to treat a variety of gynecological health concerns. Prior to her studies at UIC, Alyssa earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Detroit Mercy, where she performed undergraduate research as an NIH funded ReBUILDetroit scholar.
