">Elizabeth Loentz, Associate Professor, Germanic Studies

Elizabeth Loentz is Associate Professor of Germanic Studies and Associate Dean of the Honors College. She has been a faculty member at UIC since 2000. Her research and teaching interests include: German-Jewish literature, transnational literature, Yiddish culture in Central Europe, and women's writing. She is currently a member of the Graduate College Executive Committee. She has served as Director of Graduate Studies or Graduate Advisor of Germanic Studies for 8 years. She is also chair of the Germanic Studies section of the Graduate Concentration in Central European Studies. She has served on 23 MA committees, 18 PhD candidacy exam committees, and 10 dissertation committees. In addition to her work in graduate studies, she has served as Director of Undergraduate Studies, chair of the LAS Elections Committee, and the Executive Committee of the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics. She is also a member of Executive Committee of the Jewish Cultural Studies Discussion Group of the Modern Language Association

">Duncan Wardrop, AssociateProfessor, Chemistry

Dr. Duncan Wardrop obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. After a postdoctoral appointment at Oregon State University, he joined the faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he is now Associate Professor of Chemistry. His research interests encompass the chemistry of alkylidenecarbenes and nitrenium ions, and the application of these electron-deficient, divalent species to the synthesis of natural products. While at UIC, Dr. Wardrop has served on a number of awards committees and panels, including the Department of Chemistry, the Honors College, the UIC Office of Special Scholarship, NSF, NIH, Research Corporation and the Petroleum Fund of the American Chemical Society.

Conwell Anderson, PhD, is in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, College of Medicine. His research is in neuroscience. He has been a Director of Graduate Studies for the department for many years, and has served on the Graduate College Executive committee as well as Awards Committee for several years. The objective of the Graduate College should always be to support and reward excellence in education and in research performance. The Awards Committee has such reward as its primary guiding principle.
