Brian graduated from SIUE with a BA in English. He then taught English as a foreign language in Indonesia and Chile before completing an MA in Linguistics at UIC. Brian’s main academic interests are phonology, second language learning, and teacher training.

Josh Ruddy, Teaching Assistant

Joshua Ruddy graduated from Marquette University with a BA in Anthropology and English Literature and earned an MFA from the University of Massachusetts.  He taught Technical Writing for the Engineering Department at UMass as well as courses in International Literature in Translation and Creative Writing for several years.  He is sure that language is the greatest technology ever created and is excited to share, play and experiment with it.

Stephanie Imirie, Teaching Assistant
Stephanie is originally from the Chicago area and graduated with a BA in Communications from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She taught English in rural Japan for 5 years, and is hoping her Japanese hasn’t deteriorated too much since arriving back in Chicago. She is currently enrolled in UIC’s MA TESOL program and looks forward to assisting her students in reaching their full potential. She encourages everyone to stop by during her office hours to commiserate over their failures and successes as second language learners.
