ITA English Development Courses
The ITA Program at UIC currently offers 3 courses to help international students improve their oral communication, interaction competency, and teaching skills. GC 509: Advanced Pronunciation for ITAs is designed for current or prospective international teaching assistants who want to improve their English pronunciation. Students work on self-monitoring strategies to improve pronunciation from the sound-level, sentence-level, and discourse-level.
GC 510: Communication and Teaching Methods for ITAs is designed to help students develop academic presentation and clear speaking skills necessary for graduate level work.
GC 511: Oral Communication and Interaction Skills for ITAs focuses on giving students the skills they need to participate in academic discussions and improve their academic vocabulary, grammar, and academic skills.
