Provost's & Deiss Awards for Graduate ResearchThe Graduate College provides two programs of support for research by graduate students at UIC: the Provost's Award for Graduate Research and the W.C. and May Preble Deiss Fund for Biomedical Research. The Provost's Award is open to all graduate students currently enrolled at UIC and the Deiss Fund is for graduate students engaged in research in clinical or basic medical sciences. Students may apply on a competitive basis for awards of $1000 to $3000 to support their research. Awards will be made in two competitions annually, once in Spring semester and once in Fall semester. The application deadline for the Fall is October 12, 2009. Guidelines for Fall 2009 Competition Awards and Student LoansAn award will affect federal student loan or work-study. Check with the Office of Student Financial Aid on eligibility requirements. If you have already received a refund for the current year in federal loans and you acccept an award, you may be responsible to return part of this refund to UIC. Contact the Office of Student Financial Aid for further information. If applying for loans and/or work-study a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed.
